Emmet Chapter Minutes
11/13/02

The Emmet County chapter of the Green Party met on November 13, 2002 at 7:00 p.m. at Whitecaps Grille in Petoskey. There were 14 present.

Name - After lengthy discussion it was decided that the name of this chapter will be the Emmet County Green Party. The chapter's symbol will be an evergreen.

Internet - It was felt that the Emmet County Green Party needed it's own internet list, separate from the Up North Green Party. Chapter officers and Mike Sullivan will be sent a list with member names, addresses, and e-mail address. Mike will work on developing a list for this chapter. In order to limit the amount of e-mail sent out, anything to be sent will be filtered through Alan Hegedus. It is hoped that soon someone will volunteer to be the chapter's "Web Master".

Anyone who wants to be off the list for the Up North Green Party should contact Ellis Boals.

Nurse's strike - Discussion was held regarding support for the nurse's strike and any action to be taken. Since we are not yet a duly formed chapter of the Green Party, no statement will be made on behalf of the Emmet County Green Party. Individual members are encouraged to act as they see fit; picketing and writing letters to the Petoskey News-Review as well as the hospital's board of directors were encouraged.

By-laws - The by-laws committee presented a draft of by-laws for the chapter. Discussion was held on several points, including concensus and membership. Members will read the draft and further discussion will be held at the next meeting.

Next meeting - The next meeting of the Emmet County Green Party will be held on Wednesday, December 18 at 7:00 at Horizon Books.

The meeting was adjourned at 9:00 p.m.
