The February meeting of the Emmet County Green Party was held on February 12 at 7:00 p.m. at Horizon Books in Petoskey. There were seven people present.

Registration - Once ECGP is a registered member of the Michigan Green Party, they must elect two representatives to the state party meeting. Jennifer Pennell and Sue Adams were elected to this post.

Web Page - Lengthy discussion was held regarding the need to help Bob Hamil with the web page. It was recommended that there be a web page committee with members of both the ECGP and the UNGP. Members were also encouraged to submit items to Bob for the web page. Steve will discuss this further with Bob and indicate that there are volunteers willing to help.

Peace Resolution - Steve will present petitions asking the city of Petoskey to pass a peace resolution at the City Council meeting on Monday, February17 at 8:00. Members were encouraged to attend to offer support.

Grooming of candidates - Discussion was held regarding the need to start grooming and recruiting candidates for the 2004 elections. Dale Scott has indicated he will run as Emmet County commissioner for the Green Party. Alan will check for local offices up for election and Jennifer will check for state offices.

Nurse's strike - Discussion was held regarding what community action could be taken to encourage negotiation, including meeting with hospital officials, writing letters, requesting a community forum, etc. No firm decision was made.

The meeting adjourned at 9:00. The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, March 12, at 7:00 p.m. at Horizon Books.
