Emmet Chapter Minutes

The Emmet County Green Party met on Wednesday, May 14, 2003 at Horizon Books.. There were four people present. Bob Hamil is still requesting items to be placed on the web site. Elections - Discussion was held regarding whether or not information on Dennis Kucinich should be on the Greens web site as he is the "greenest" candidate for president to run thus far. It was recommended this not be done for now. Alan Hegedus is going to be running for a position in Little Traverse Township. Further information and ideas on support for candidacy will be held in the future. Colleen Ryan presented the list of positions for Bear Creek Township and is thinking of applying for a position on the township planning commission. Discussion was held regarding the roles of the various peace groups in the community and how they should/should not be connected. Michele Burian stated that there was a possibility that Northern Michigan People for Peace could get grant money for educational programs. There is also the possibility of a retreat with the Traverse City peace groups. Discussion was held regarding summer meetings. Colleen Ryan will attend the UNGP meeting next week and see if it is alright to have a joint meeting in June. The ECGP will not meet in July but will meet in August. The meeting adjourned at 8:10 p.m. Webmaster note: The ECGP will be meeting with the UNGP on June 11 at the Dilworth Inn in Boyne City.
